328lbs, to Triathlete, to Mom, to Woman on a Mission

I’m Andrea Matthes, creator of the I’mperfect Life philosophy and methodology designed to help you let go of perfection so you can love yourself, care for your body, and live a  truly happy, healthy lifestyle.

I spent countless nights crying myself to sleep full of guilt, remorse, regret, and shame, believing that I was incapable of living the happy, healthy lifestyle that “others” got to live.

I hated myself for failing over and over again. I made promises to myself that I didn’t keep. I was convinced that there was something wrong with my brain, like I was missing some secret information that was integral to “success.”

I knew I was good at lots of things, but I could not figure out why I sucked so bad at life.

I thought that the only way to do life “right” was to do it “perfectly” and if I wasn’t perfect, I was a failure.

This thought created feelings of hopelessness and helplessness, and those feelings left me sitting on my couch, eating copious amounts of junk food, watching life pass me by.

Through a series of events that included weight loss surgery, losing 164lbs, and completing dozens of races including triathlons and Spartans, I found the secret information I had been missing…

By expecting perfection was creating failure.

It wasn’t that I was incapable of “success”– I was incapable of perfection. Imagine that!

I’mperfect Life is a philosophy and methodology for living a truly happy, healthy lifestyle that begins with letting go of perfection when it comes to food, fitness, body image, and life.
